The Austin Ving Tsun Academy was founded in 1996 by Sifu Jeff Webb upon his return to Austin from serving in the U.S. Air Force. Since then, the academy has produced a large number of highly-trained martial artists and has continued to offer the best authentic kung fu instruction available.

It is one of the longest continuously running martial arts schools in Austin. Our original location in South Austin operated on Manchaca Road from 1997-2017, concurrent with a satellite location in Northwest Austin since 2004. In early 2018 the academy was consolidated into a single, larger facility at 13740 Research Boulevard, Suite W-1.

Master Jeff Webb is the chief-instructor of the Austin Ving Tsun Academy and it’s parent organization, the NVTO. He began studying Japanese Karate in June 1983 and shifted to Ving Tsun kung fu (also spelled Wing Chun / Wing Tsun) in June 1985. While serving with the U.S. Air Force in Germany from 1992-1995, he both trained and taught as an instructor in the European Wing Tsun Organization. He has the distinction of being one of the few persons in the world to have been both a private student of his former teacher, Grandmaster Leung Ting, and also a private student of Grandmaster Keith R. Kernspecht.

In addition to his vast experience in Ving Tsun kung fu, Master Webb is also an instructor of Filipino Escrima, a certified Private Security Specialist and a certified firearms instructor (handgun / rifle / shotgun). Through his company Texas Defensive Training, he provides instruction in all aspects of self-defense for people of all experience levels.

An accomplished author, Master Webb has written numerous articles for martial arts periodicals such as Wing Chun Illustrated, Kung Fu Tai Chi Magazine, and Journal of Asian Martial Arts / Via Media Publishing; and has published three books to date. Currently he is working to complete an in-depth book on Wing Chun Fighting Concepts.
